A number of regulatory agencies and programs relevant to water quality and environmental protection exist at the federal, state, and local levels. In addition to providing regulatory oversight, many offer specific resources to assist regulated parties, non-governmental organizations, and the public in moving various initiatives forward. In some cases, local agencies have also collaborated to develop regional work products and standards in response to their specific regulatory requirements.
